Roden's 1/72 scale
Fokker D.VII Early

Fokker D.VII Early Version
Eduard's 1/48 Fokker D.VII ProfiPACK is available online from Squadron.com
This is my Fokker D. VII early (kit n°025) in Kirschstein "Optical Illusion" livery.
Regarding accuracy, I read the worst things about Roden's D VII but in the end I decided to simply sand the bottom sides of the fuselage (giving it the appropriate rectangular section) to match the opening in the lower wing.
The rest of the build was simple and OOB, except for Eduard's steel seat belts.
When everything was well hidden inside the glued fuselage I airbrushed a coat of Tamiya dark yellow, followed by a coat of white tinted with a few drops of brown and gray.
Then I had to made the proper size adjustment to the profile found on Schiffer's book "Richthofen's Circus" to match the differences in scale of Roden's kit, because it appears that wing and fuselage are based on two slightly different scale drawings.
After that, I put the model on the plasticized plan and started masking stripes on it... After that, a coat of very dark grey was airbrushed.
I put everything together, gloss coating and decaling as usual: this time, unexpectedly, the decals behave quite well!
I did some light oil washing and weathering, a little rigging and finally put it in the cabinet!
Hope you like it!
